The GAE sees Trump as a rogue and Americans see the GAE is rogue. Either perspective is accurate. My take is that Trump/Vance/Musk need to attack the GAE's global network in Europe and Canada in order to keep the fight alive. When Trump/Vance denigrate Europe they are attacking the GAE's European vassalage network. Seize the opportunities that this will prefent in your countries. We are finally all in the fight. We must not have a victim mentality. Let's celebrate that we are finally in it and find a way to take some ground.
One thing that people forget is that things don't happen just because Trump says he wants them to. So we could optimistically end up with a US that destroys its own international order for no benefit whatsoever, without taking over Greenland, Canada, or even the Panama Canal. Trump and his people have shown themselves willing to accept even purely symbolic victories as long as it can produce a headline, even if they were speaking extremely aggressively beforehand. In the first round of his tariff threats against Canada, for example, Justin Trudeau called him and "agreed" to do something that the Canadian government had already announced it was going to do months in the past, and Trump backed off on the threat for a while. The American media then spun this as "CANADA BENDS THE KNEE," and other things on that same level.
I just hope that we in Canada manage to pivot to the emerging European alliance rather than being stuck in one way or the other with Trump's Slop Nationalism

Yes, it appears that the Trump administration is trying to render Europe a helpless, hapless husk. Europe has the ability to rebuild their armed forces. They will have to go into debt to do it, but it can be done. I am beyond tired of all of the defeatism--most of which is coming from Russian shills.

Putin's Russia is not strong; it's a mess. Russia's economy is in shambles, it's growth fuelled by military spending. Russian civil society is either dead, imprisoned, or in exile. However, Putin is still afraid to order a mass mobilization in Moscow and St Petersburg because he knows it will lead to mass unrest. Russia has to rebuild its military. It's lost most of its military hardware. Modern Russia is not the Soviet Union. Russia's aging demographic is one of the worst on Earth. Russia--the only nation in history to have more grandparents than teenagers. Russia is not 'stroooonk.'

Time will tell if Trump will survive politically. It's only been two months, and Trump's base is starting to fray. America's economy could crash in the next few months, and then the MAGA base will turn on him.
Europe has allowed itself to unravel. Some countries are trying to rebuild their economies and moving to close the borders and expel the migrants. Even hopelessly liberal countries like Sweden have had enough. The nation state has to be revived, or these countries will breakup (which seems likely).
Trump's team is made up of 5th raters: Fox News hosts, MMA fighters, podcasters (really), and former low ranking (part-time) National Guard officers. These people are unfit to run their departments. Look at the Signal-gate scandal. How was that even possible? What happened to Operational Security?
America is still a very strong democratic nation with checks and balances. There is a lot of catastrophica coming out of the American and European media. Trump won't be able to make himself into a dictator. I don't see that many people willing to go along with that. Americans don't want to end up like the Russians.
I hope Frodi is operating under the logic that every effort must be made to push propaganda in whatever way is needed even lying if necessary to ensure the war in Ukraine was not in vain, and neither the Ukrainian nor Russian soldiers didn't lose their lives for nothing. The most positive thing that can come out of the special operation would be Russia giving Europe an excuse to militarize ensuring more nationalist autonomy for Western Europe from America and the post-WW2 neo-liberal self-mutilation multicultural policy at the cost of vilifying Russia and especially Putin.
This is the logic I believe Frodi has been operating under for more than a year now, and I think this is logical to potentially free Europe from democracy by claiming Russia is more of a threat than it actually is therefore bypassing various anti-militarizing rules that have been in place since after WW2. This increased military power could well allow Europe the autonomy to start to end immigration, and the woke ideology if Europe plays the fool and vilifies Russia like the US wants it to.

I only just made it to the end of this discussion by which time I was screaming inside every time you mentioned your Stuck in the Middle With EU essay. I challenge you to write an essay entitled Fuck EU as a thought experiment at what it would really mean for England to say no to unionism including the UK. I know it’s not an exclusively northern thing but why do you assume without even considering otherwise that we somehow wouldn’t survive outside of a bigger political union? Why does it have to be a choice between one empire or another? I nearly called it a day when Frodi glibly declared that without the EU countries would be ‘easily digestible’.
